Biography
Lin Shao earned his Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, and then completed his PhD in Biological and Medical Informatics at the University of California, San Francisco. After finishing graduate school, he worked as a research specialist at UCSF and later at the HHMI Janelia Research Campus in Virginia. In 2016, he joined the Yale Departments of Neuroscience and Microbial Pathogenesis as a research scientist. Since earning his PhD, Shao has focused on developing innovative fluorescence microscopy techniques, including structured illumination and lattice light-sheet microscopy. He lives in New Haven with his family, and they enjoy weekend outings to hiking trails, beaches, and events for track or cross-country meets in which his daughter participates.
